Ingrid Goes West
Aubrey Plaza delivers a tour-de-force performance as Ingrid Thorburn, an emotionally unstable woman who becomes dangerously fixated on an Instagram influencer. Much like Oliver Quick’s infiltration of the Catton family in Saltburn, Ingrid meticulously crafts a new identity to insert herself into Taylor Sloane’s seemingly perfect life. The film masterfully satirizes modern superficiality and the corrosive nature of online obsession, creating a sense of escalating unease as Ingrid’s carefully constructed façade begins to crumble. Its dark humor and exploration of a desperate outsider’s yearning for belonging, even if through deceit, make it a spiritual cousin to Saltburn's unsettling narrative. The psychological depth of Ingrid’s delusion provides a compelling, if disturbing, character study.
