Still Life
Uberto Pasolini crafts an extraordinarily tender exploration of human isolation and dignity in Still Life. Anchored by Eddie Marsan's fastidious council worker tasked with finding next-of-kin for those who die alone, the picture thrives on stillness, deliberate framing, and an aching empathy for society's forgotten souls. The storytelling resists cheap sentimentality, letting grief emerge naturally through empty flats and abandoned mementos. Froggatt provides the narrative's vital emotional thaw as Kelly, the estranged daughter who offers a fleeting glimpse of communion. Her gentle, unadorned presence balances Marsan's rigid routine, providing the emotional foundation that makes the film's final stretch utterly devastating.
